The introduction of a landlord database and PRS Landlord Ombudman will increase visibility and routes to redress for tenants. And the fines for getting getting it wrong are hefty: as a landlord you can be fined £7,000 for a breach of the Renters' Rights Act and £40,000 or criminal prosecution for a serious offence. Now is the time to ask yourself how clear are you on what's required? Can you trust your own knowledge when there's so much misinformation out there? Do you have the processes in place to stay up to date and to show your compliance?
